Why Technical Defences Stop at the Dial Tone
Enterprise security investments are heavily weighted toward perimeter code and endpoint telemetry. Organizations deploy multi-million-dollar tech stacks—SIEMs, XDR agents, next-gen firewalls—that continuously monitor packets, logs, and processes.
None of those tools monitor the phone line between an external caller and a junior help desk technician.
When an adversary convinces an employee to issue a temporary login token, approve a password reset, or update a banking profile, the intrusion enters through legitimate, authorized administrative workflows. To your monitoring tools, the resulting activity appears completely normal: a user signed in, a ticket was resolved, or a payment was processed. The compromise only becomes visible after data is exfiltrated or funds leave the account.

The Operational Failure Modes We Test
We do not test an employee's IQ; we test the operational friction points where company policy regularly yields to conversational convenience.
01 · The Help Desk Seam
Identity & Credential Takeover
Internal IT help desks and third-party managed service providers (MSPs) are measured on call resolution speed and customer satisfaction. Attackers exploit this metric by presenting plausible technical crises.
- MFA Device Re-enrolment Testing whether support staff will register a new authentication device or generate bypass codes for a caller claiming their phone was lost, broken, or replaced.
- Self-Service Credential Resets Measuring whether analysts verify caller identity using static, publicly discoverable data (birthdates, employee IDs, department names) rather than cryptographically secure, out-of-band validation.
- Privileged Account Manipulation Evaluating whether service desk technicians will escalate privileges, grant temporary administrative access, or adjust permission groups without written secondary manager approval.
02 · The Cash Path
Transaction & Disbursement Diversion
Financial workflows rely heavily on informal relationships and routine correspondence. When an urgent call interrupts standard cadence, verification steps are often viewed as unnecessary bottlenecks.
- Vendor Banking Updates Determining whether accounts payable clerks accept modified transit, SWIFT, or EFT details over the phone without initiating an independent callback to the master vendor contact on file.
- Expedited Transfer Requests Testing whether treasury or accounting staff will process one-off, time-sensitive wires when pressured by a caller posing as an outside counsel, escrow agent, or banking representative during an acquisition or deal close.
- Direct Deposit & Payroll Alteration Evaluating whether human resources or payroll teams will update direct deposit destinations based on an incoming call from someone claiming to be an employee experiencing banking issues.
03 · The Executive Pretext
Downward Authority Pressure
Corporate hierarchy is inherently vulnerable to downward pressure. Junior personnel, executive assistants, and regional site leads are conditioned to assist executives immediately, making them hesitant to introduce bureaucratic delays.
- The Travelling Executive Emulating high-ranking leadership calling from an airport, off-site summit, or transit hub requiring immediate access to files, calendar rosters, or email forwards.
- Cloned Executive Voice Testing whether assistants, help desk analysts, and finance staff act on a request simply because the caller sounds exactly like their CEO or CFO, using an AI clone of that executive's voice.
- Board & Legal Disruption Simulating urgent requests from "outside legal counsel" or "board members" demanding immediate, non-standard disclosures under the guise of an active regulatory review or crisis.
- Operational Exceptions Measuring whether branch managers or plant operators will override physical or administrative safety checks when instructed by someone wielding senior executive authority. The call always ends before any safety control is actually overridden.
04
Reconnaissance & Organizational Mapping
Attacks rarely occur in a single step. Adversaries frequently make brief, low-risk calls to administrative desks simply to gather internal intelligence for a subsequent strike.
- Software & Tooling Discovery Testing whether front-desk staff, switchboard operators, or sales coordinators disclose internal tools, ticket systems, VPN vendors, or payroll schedules to an unfamiliar voice.
- Personnel & Hierarchy Validation Determining how much confirmation an outsider can extract regarding who is out of the office, reporting structures, direct phone extensions, and project code names.
Fragile Operations vs. Resilient Systems
| Vulnerability Vector | Fragile Operational Reality | Hardened, Resilient Posture |
|---|---|---|
| Help Desk Identity Proofing | Verifies identity using static data easily found on LinkedIn or public records (manager name, title, hire date). | Requires cryptographic verification, push-based challenge tokens, or an active manager video check-in. |
| Vendor Banking Updates | Accepts verbal confirmation or calls back the phone number provided directly by the caller. | Mandates a strict callback using only the pre-established, historically verified phone number in the ERP system. |
| Executive Authority Calls | Staff prioritize speed and deference, actively bypassing security checks to avoid reprimand. | Clear "no-fault pause" culture where validating an executive's identity is formally recognized and rewarded. |
| Voice as Identity | Treats a familiar voice as proof of identity, so a convincing clone of an executive is enough to approve a request. | Treats every voice as unverified; sensitive requests are confirmed through a callback to the number on file, no matter who seems to be calling. |
| Suspicious Call Reporting | The employee hangs up; the incident remains unrecorded and invisible to the rest of the organization. | A documented, one-click reporting mechanism alerts the SOC within minutes of a suspicious interaction. |
The Emulation Methodology
Our voice campaigns are executed with the same operational rigour, research, and technical nuance used by modern threat actors, governed by strict enterprise guardrails.

01
Intelligence & Pretext Development
We do not use generic scripts. Before dialling, operators conduct non-intrusive open-source intelligence (OSINT) to understand your company’s organizational structure, terminology, and operational cadence. Pretexts mirror real workplace scenarios: a regional project manager needing a system reset, a freight carrier confirming dispatch details, or an enterprise software vendor following up on an open migration ticket.
02
AI Voice Cloning
The voice on the line sounds exactly like your CFO, because it was built from theirs.
Attackers no longer need to imitate an executive. A short sample of public audio—an earnings call, a conference keynote, a podcast interview—is enough to clone a voice convincingly. Our operators use the same technique to test whether a familiar voice is enough to move money, reset credentials, or have reception expecting a "visitor" ahead of a physical entry test.
Every clone is consent-first. The executive whose voice is cloned is named in your signed scope and approves it in writing. The clone is used only on in-scope staff during the testing window, and the voice model and its source audio are deleted when the campaign ends.
03
Strict Safe-Testing Protocols
We test resilience, not emotional tolerance.
- No High-Stress Pretexts We never simulate personal emergencies, family crises, legal threats, or job termination scenarios.
- Benign Proof Cut-Offs The moment an employee agrees to an unauthorized action—such as initiating a password reset or agreeing to update a transit number—the operator safely concludes the call. We do not accept real passwords, collect live MFA tokens, or accept real funds.
- Immediate De-confliction If a target challenges the caller or initiates an internal security alert, the operator can gracefully disengage or present pre-agreed verification credentials directly to your primary point of contact.
04
Non-Punitive Telemetry
A successful vishing call highlights a procedural failure, not a character flaw. Our deliverables omit employee names and disciplinary recommendations entirely. Findings document the precise conversational turning point, the missing verification safeguard, and the systemic change required to protect that workflow in the future.
What the Deliverable Looks Like
At the conclusion of the campaign, your security and leadership teams receive an actionable operational debrief:
Executive Risk Analysis
A direct assessment of your financial and identity workflows, translating call success rates into potential monetary, legal, and operational exposure.
Timestamped Call Telemetry
Audio recordings and transcript logs where your scope includes recording, plus call metrics detailing time-to-compromise, reporting rates, and failure points across tested departments.
Conversational Pivot Analysis
Granular breakdowns showing the exact phrases, emotional triggers, or authority levers that caused employees to abandon documented verification procedures.
Hardened Callback & Verification Scripts
Ready-to-implement identity validation workflows, verification question matrices, and out-of-band callback playbooks designed specifically for your help desk and accounts payable teams.
